Lyrics

The One

The days are long
The days are long, the nights are blind
She finds him there
But through her despair it’s hard to find

The will to change
The heart to fight
To him hold close
With all her might
She wants to know
If they both stay
It’ll feel as right
As it does today

See, They belong
To the gods of love and the laws of strife
While he’s prepared
To fight the world he hides a lie

He needs to change
His heart of flight
To one that holds
Their future life
He wants to know
If they both stay
It’ll feel as right
As it does today

Dropped to the floor
Real love is wasting
Get out of your own way
Life is for taking
Feeling alone
Nobody’s craving (it’s with you)
I want to grow old
Or am I just crazy

If I’m seeking love to find the answers
Have I already lost my way

When I stop at your door
Real love is waiting
When I look in your eyes
There’s no mistaking
When I’m Feeling alone
I wont be waiting (cause with you)
I’m the one
I must be taken

When I stop at your door
Real love is waiting
When I look in your eyes
There’s no mistaking
See I’m never alone
I’m only faking (its with you)
I want to grow old
So I’m just waiting

Story

Re-forming in 2020 Reckless Empire has written a bunch of new stuff, the first of which is The One

The song is a classic rock ballad love story about a couple that are deeply in love but struggle to work past their own doubts and fears surrounding each other, themselves and the future. An honest and personal journey from the songwriter about his own life and relationships, it explores the premise that finding ‘The One’ is only the start. Having the courage to be vulnerable and open enough to love them is the real trip.
